2nd İzmir International Film and Music Festival
Hosted by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality with support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Directorate General of Cinema and in collaboration with the Intercultural Art Association, the festival took place between June 10 and June 19.
The opening ceremony was held at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center, where an honorary award was presented to Zülfü Livaneli. The night concluded with a concert of Zülfü Livaneli’s film music performed by the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Rengim Gökmen.
The festival featured 100 domestic and international films, along with panel discussions, concerts, and a Music-Themed Short Film Development Workshop.
The award night at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center was hosted by actress Şenay Gürler. The Italian music group Nino Rota Ensemble performed live. The Honorary Award was given to Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner, and the Intercultural Art Achievement Award was awarded to director Tony Gatlif, known for his anti-racism works. The Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to sound engineer and producer Necip Sarıcı and esteemed film critic Atilla Dorsay.
National Competition Awards
The jury, led by director Erden Kıral and including director Biket İlhan, Ebru Şeremetli, İzzet Öz, composer Güldiyar Tanrıdağlı, actress Selen Uçer, and opera singer Selva Erdener, decided to award the following works:
Best Sound Design: “Gölgeler İçinde” by Erdem Tepegöz, with Eli Haligua, Fatih Rağbet, and composer Greg Dobrowski
Best Original Film Song: “Ahmet Abi” from “Sen Ben Lenin” by Tufan Taştan, performed by Barış Diri
Best Original Score: Original music for “Kerr” by Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, composed by Nikos Kypourgos
Best Actor: Emre Erdoğdu in “Beni Sevenler Listesi,” Halil Babür and Ferit Karol in “Kumbara,” and Murat Kılıç
Best Actress: Gülçin Kültür for her role in “Kumbara”
Jury Special Award: Tayfun Pirselimoğlu
Best Film: Sen Ben Lenin
Television Series Music Awards
The jury, chaired by composer Serdar Kalafatoğlu and including director and musician Nezih Ünen, cinema and television writers Alican Sekmeç, Burak Göral, Elçin Yahşi, Özlem Özdemir, and Tuğçe Madayanti Dizici, awarded the following productions:
Best Original Song for Digital Platform Series: “Derinlerde Saklı” from Blue TV’s “Saklı,” performed by Sena Şener
Best Original Song for National Channel Series: “Sana Çıkıyor Yollar” from Star TV’s NG Media production “Kaderimin Oyunu,” performed by Ender Gündüzlü
Best Original Music for Digital Platform Series: Netflix’s “Uysallar,” composed by Sertaç Özgümüş
Best Original Music for National Channel Series: Theme music of Fox TV’s MF production “Mahkum,” composed by Sertaç Özgümüş
