Musician

He began his musical journey at a young age with guitar and percussion instruments. Together with Selim and Zerrin Atakan, he founded Yeni Türkü, a band that left a mark on the Turkish music scene with its unique style blending Anatolian melodies with modern instruments. Köroğlu, as the band’s vocalist, lyricist, composer, and arranger, contributed to unforgettable albums such as Akdeniz Akdeniz, Buğdayın Türküsü, Dünyanın Kapıları, Yeşilmişik, Vira Vira, Aşk Yeniden, Şimdi ve Sonra; shaping the band’s sound world with his mastery of guitar, bağlama, cura, percussion, and various other rhythm instruments. Between 1996 and 2001, he worked as a music producer on various projects and established a music studio, producing not only for Yeni Türkü but also for documentaries, TV series, and films. In 1997, he compiled his ethnic–New Age style instrumental works selected from these projects into the album Musikarium. As a producer, Köroğlu contributed significantly to the Turkish music industry through arrangements and studio recordings on many artists’ albums. Throughout his career spanning over half a century, he continues to touch countless listeners’ lives with his energy on stage and creativity in the studio.

Musician

He completed his secondary education at Istanbul Saint-Joseph French High School for Boys and Ankara Science High School. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and specialized in pathology. From a young age, the artist showed a strong interest in music, winning awards at the 'Milliyet Newspaper Inter-High School Music Competition,' and during his high school years, he worked as an arranger and guitarist in Esin Afşar’s ‘Bürümcük’ orchestra and on Selda Bağcan’s first record productions. He co-founded the band Yeni Türkü with Derya Köroğlu and Zerrin Atakan, performing in numerous albums and concerts between 1982 and 1992. In 1990, he started working as a music director at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters and retired in 2016. He participated in domestic and international concerts with prominent artists such as Erol Evgin, Zülfü Livaneli, and Zuhal Olcay. Since 2002, he has managed song and vocal recordings and written Turkish lyrics for dubbing projects within İmaj Entertainment. Since 2018, he has continued his work at the same institution as a director and Creative Director.

Film Composers

He is among the most versatile and talented French film composers of his generation. He became interested in music from the early age of three. When he was four years old, he conducted a brief section of Carmen at the Paris Opera. He studied harmony, counterpoint, fugue, and composition in Paris Conservatory. At the age of five, he began experimenting with sound recording and made his first short films, Sarde has scored over two hundred films, film shorts, and television mini-series.He received an Academy Award nomination for Tess (1979), and twelve Cesar Award nominations, winning for Barocco (1976). His soundtracks were performed by famous musicians such as Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Stéphane Grappelli among others.
