WORKSHOP
PROBLEMS OF PRODUCING AND CO-PRODUCTIONS
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn about production challenges, co-production processes, and the dynamics of international film projects from experienced producer Zeynep Atakan. Having entered the film industry in 1999, Atakan began producing international projects and founded Zeynofilm in 2007, focusing exclusively on cinema productions. In 2010, she was awarded the 'Eurimages Producer of the Year' by the European Film Academy and launched the YAPIMLAB Workshops to share her experience with young filmmakers.
As Vice President of the European Women Audiovisual Network (EWA), Atakan advocates for gender equality in the audiovisual field. In 2014, she received the Flying Broom Bilge Olgaç Achievement Award, and her production Winter Sleep (Kış Uykusu) won the Palme d’Or at the 67th Cannes Film Festival. That same year, she launched the Antalya Film Forum, a co-production and project development market, directing it until 2018 to support emerging filmmakers.
Zeynep Atakan is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar), the European Film Academy, and the Asia Pacific Screen Academy, and serves as the artistic director of the Sabancı Foundation Short Film Platform. Her filmography includes It Must Be Heaven (2019), The Wild Pear Tree (2018), Winter Sleep (2014), and other major works by Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
Held in cooperation with İZKA, this workshop will provide participants with direct interaction with an experienced producer while offering a comprehensive insight into national and international film production processes.
