After obtaining an old Boca de Estrella guitar like the one played by tango icon Carlos Gardel, tango musician/guitar collector Patricio Crom sets out to restore the instrument and discover its true sound—and then use it in a concert featuring some of today’s best Argentine tango guitarists. Along the way, Crom explores the different techniques of guitar playing, the challenges of guitar building and restoration, and the enduring passion for Carlos Gardel.

Yael Szmulewicz
Yael Szmulewicz was born in Buenos Aires in 1975 and studied Audiovisual Production at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). In 2002, she directed her first documentary, La otra orilla, as part of the Perfiles series. Since 2005, she has been working as an assistant director and script supervisor in Argentina, while also developing her own projects as a director. Over the years, she has directed numerous music videos, with a particular focus on tango. In 2018, she premiered her documentary Amar amando. El sonido de antes is her second feature documentary.
